No batteries required!
So much fun was had with our last camp challenge in Room S. This challenge had each group working really hard together to create a 6 cup stack pyramid. No hands were allowed to touch the cups. Instead they had to use a most expensive piece of equipment: a rubber band with 4 strings attached to it. Ms Ellis had so much fun laughing at the interesting antics. Frustration and fun all around.

Today was the last day of our team building challenges to get ready for camp. There was lots of laughter and lots of great teamwork. Balloons are very tricky things!!!!

World Of Maths
Today, in groups, the Seniors had a chance to explore numeracy ideas in a huge variety of hands on activities. The World of Maths roadshow visited MSS to demonstrate the fun and relevance of maths in the real world. It catered for all levels and challenged their problem solving skills. There was even a fair bit of reading comprehension involved!

3 Times the Champions!
Congratulations Shannon and Jack for your wonderful efforts at the Lions Speech Competition last night. Shannon won making M.S.S the winner for the third year running! Way to go Manchester St! Well spoken Shannon!
Challenge groups working together
Today's challenge had 3 members of the team blindfolded with the last person the eyes. Without talking and only using signals passed down the snake, the front person had to pick up an object randomly scattered on the floor.
There was some good teamwork and great driving. Others needed more work on taking charge, or trusting each other and driving around the obstacles.
Blind snakes was a great team activity.

How to thank a coach!
With the new round of sport starting this term it is timely to remind ourselves how lucky we are to get coaches for all our teams. Without these parent helpers you would not be able to have so many teams or choices of sports. These adults give us their time to coach you all. It is a big job and we need to make sure they enjoy the experience and want to do it again!
We brainstormed what we need to focus on when at practice.
Remember our rainbow- Coaches can coach and learners can learn!
*Be polite and respectful
*Listen to and follow all instructions
*Don't talk when your coach is talking
*Be enthusiastic and eager
*Give 100%

More Pre Camp Challenge Fun!
Inside Rm I it was very chilly, below 0 in fact! Challenge groups had to share an insulation mat in Antartica to stop their feet freezing off. But wait there was more... they had to keep sharing it with other visitors and it got smaller and smaller. 4 folds was the record!

SHAKE OUT 2015
On Thursday at 9.15 in the middle of camp challenges the Senior Team participated (along with the rest of MSS) in Shake Out, the national earthquake drill.
Because we were outside we had to drop, cover and stay 'turtle' as there was nothing to hold. It's important we consider trees and other large objects that can fall when we are outside.

Parachute Toss Challenge
Another fun and stimulating group of challenges for our Camp Challenge Groups this afternoon. 20 successful tosses of the ball was the record for two of the teams. Lots of laughter and teamwork on the field in the lovely sun. Fingers crossed we see the sun back in week 3!!!

Stevie's Magic Maths Helpers
Stevie is really lucky to have such an enthusiastic and helpful math group. They fight over who gets to work with her and really look after her. Here they are in action.
I've got Alyssa's jacket, Taine's ear, success is mine! Who's that photo bombing Ciara? |
