Folding Paper with our Buddies

On Friday we practiced origami of a different kind. The art of folding paper planes. We used a  video clip from Kiwi Kids news that Crystal found. We helped our Rm B buddies fold a plane as well. Then we all went out and trialled them. Mrs Harris' flew very well!

Term 3 Week 1

Congratulations to these lovely learners in Room H who received certificates in Assembly today. Tino pai from Ms Todd.

SPEED

Have you heard of a card game called Speed? Today Isobel taught
Room H how to play for Teach the Teacher. It was lots of fun. Hit Isobel up if you would like to learn how to play.

Good Shot Hunter!

Hunter brought in his catapults for Teach the Teacher yesterday. It was a hit, everyone loved learning about his weapons. He had a good discussion with David about the pros and cons of a crossbow versus a catapult!

Olivia Expands Our Vocabulary

Rm I were reading a story for Winter Warmers. In the story it mentioned the word poignant. No one in Rm I knew what the definition of this word was. Mrs Palmer issued us with a challenge. Olivia was the first student to come back with the definition.
Poignant: a feeling of sadness or deep emotion. Something that affects you deeply and makes you feel sadness or regret.
Her example: Remember when we were at the vets and our dog got put down. It was a very poignant time and memory.

Critter castle

Our wero (challenge ) for enviro day was to make a invertebrate habit out of only up cycled materials. Ms Ellis scrounged around in her garden and found an old box that her dog had chewed the handle off and some scraps of wire netting. Both would make a great start. We discussed what would be ideal materials for insects to live in and where we would find these. The hunt was on. We searched the school grounds and even asked other classes if they had any scraps left. Perfect. Lots of bits and pieces to construct our critter creation.

Andrew shares soccer drills that everyone could do.

Controlled kicks, chest blocks and headers were all skills Andrew had the whole class doing. As we got better and believed in ourselves we had more fun. Not only did we improve our skills but we were considerate of our partners skills too. Thanks Andrew for getting us outside for a fun Teach the Teacher.

Enviro Action Day Term 2

Enviro Action Day for Term 2 was Friday and what a great, busy day we all had. We kicked off our day of action with an enviro assembly featuring special guest; RowenaBrown. Then onto some gardening, looking at invertebrate habitats, litter less lunches, more gardening, writing a PMI chart, finding Wally and  his friends and last but not least...a little more gardening!
