Maths Writing

In Ms Ellis' maths class we have been practising writing word problems. Boy, have we come up with some doozies.
We started of simple to work out what word problems need.
They need:
- to have proper sentences with CAPITAL LETTERS & PUNCTUATION.
- relate to the equation. Check the operation. Plus, subtraction.
- end with a specific question and a question mark. Otherwise they are just a statement.
- to have some some keywords e.g. Altogether, left over, remains, each.

We found we liked certain contexts: sports, animals, food, gross, funny.
WARNING! Some of the following are disgusting.

Equation: 5 x 12

Equation: 15 - 9 + 6
