Cloud in a jar You need a jar, ice cubes, water and a steel lid. Fill the bottom of the jar with water to the depth of one or two cm. This is the ocean. Turn the metal lid upside down and place on top of the jar. This is the sky. Place three ice cubes on top of the lid. The sky is cold because it is up so high. After about ten minutes, lift the lid off and observe the underside. The water will have evaporated and condensation has formed under the lid. This is how clouds are formed in the cold sky.
