Homework to be proud of.

Look at these fabulous examples of the effort put into homework. Nolan and Brenden both showed their artistic talent to illustrate a message.

Worth the effort!

Congratulations to all the people who entered the ICAN poster competition. There were so many fantastic entries it would have been really hard for the judges to choose. Amy came to assembly today to share the good news with the whole school and who won at different age groups.
You can see by her outstanding poster why Bonnie came first in the senior category. For her clear message and supporting art work she received a $100 voucher.
Well done to everyone.

Responding  to bullies is something you need to think carefully about.
The "target" should try not to give away their power. Bullies do it for power. If you respond in a certain way you can give them your power. That's what they want - THE POWER!!
There are many different situations and not one answer. Even though there is ....tell someone. You may need to try different people until you find someone you can talk to. You shouldn't have to deal with this alone.

Lucy Evans is an awesome leader in our school and in the class, always helpful, kind and leads by example.
Zion Bennett-Cross is a budding artist who is very particular about line, shape and colour.

Co-operation and teamwork are an important part of our learning.

Working together on our posters needed lots of discussion and teamwork.
During our Bystander Education lesson with Amy and Lewis we got a better understanding about how a person feels, thinks and acts when bullying occurs.
It's good to have a better definition of bullying, being mean or being rude.
We are looking forward to the third lesson next week.

A bomb of deliciousness about to go off in your mouth.

That's what Marcel thought of what Elizabeth shared with us for her Teach The Teacher today.
Was it cooking or was it a science experiment? Could it be both?

Room S can tell you it was many things:
"It tastes golden syrupy", purred Ellee
"...like edible gold " murmered Tom
"It looks like a chicken nugget " observed Connor
"Yummiest thing on earth" exclaimed Georgia
"....like heaven in your mouth" shared Hamiora
"It's like having $100, you just want to have it straight away" bubbled Libby
"It's a rock of magnificence " gushed Georgia
"It's just REALLY delicious", decided Elizabeth.

7 people had never eaten homemade hokey pokey.
Thanks to Elizabeth's assistant, AKA mum, for helping her record her demonstration and having plenty of delicious gold to share with the class.

Co-operative Learning in Rm I

This afternoon we practiced our Earthquake Safety video. Then we spilt into our smaller groups to brainstorm our own safety videos.
Mrs Palmer was proud and impressed with they way we worked together...(she did think we were a little noisy in our enthusiasm!)

Bystander Education Programme

For our second lesson with Amy in Room H we got to create some posters that expressed how bullying might make people feel think or act.  These are our ideas

Upstanding in Rm I

For our second session with Amy and Louis we talked about how bullying makes you feel. Then we worked in groups of three to create visual displays and shared them with our peers.
Check them out below!

Room S pen pals

Room S has now got pen pals from the United States of America in Mount Vernon, Washington State That's on the other side of the world. You see that little bright green dot at the top of the world map that's our pen pals and the other little dot down the bottom is us Room S. Those clocks mean the time difference of our pen pals
 buddied up with who

Room S letters arrived to our Pen Pals in USA.

Room S have got pen pals at Big Lake Elementary in Washington State in USA. Don't get this confused with Washington DC. It is way up north near the border to Canada.
We all wrote letters to our buddies and sent them the end of last term. Finally they arrived and our buddies were thrilled to get them. It is a great feeling getting a letter in the mail. We are looking forward to our letters.

Go! Go! Go!

I chose Bathhurst as my Teach the Teacher topic. I love watching it each year. My Dad has been and I know a lot about it. I drew the track for the class and talked them through all the famous turns. I also taught them the history of the race.

Tracks are for Trains

Although the Seniors are just finishing their Risky Business Inquiry study Rm I is not sure Gemma understood all the safety messages? Tracks are for trains Gemma!

Also we enjoyed this song by the PNBHS choir. Very topical 'I'm a train'. Stunning voices.
