Fondue Fun in Rm I

With some help from Tyla and Abbie I made chocolate fondue for my class. This was an activity for Teach the Teacher. It tasted delicious. They had marshmallows to dip in the chocolate. Kymani said "It tasted like heaven".

Teach the Teacher

Room H learnt all about St Johns from Blake last Friday. Great bandaging skills Blake! There is probably a job for you in the sick bay.

Andrew shares soccer drills that everyone could do.

Controlled kicks, chest blocks and headers were all skills Andrew had the whole class doing. As we got better and believed in ourselves we had more fun. Not only did we improve our skills but we were considerate of our partners skills too. Thanks Andrew for getting us outside for a fun Teach the Teacher.

A bomb of deliciousness about to go off in your mouth.

That's what Marcel thought of what Elizabeth shared with us for her Teach The Teacher today.
Was it cooking or was it a science experiment? Could it be both?

Room S can tell you it was many things:
"It tastes golden syrupy", purred Ellee
"...like edible gold " murmered Tom
"It looks like a chicken nugget " observed Connor
"Yummiest thing on earth" exclaimed Georgia
"....like heaven in your mouth" shared Hamiora
"It's like having $100, you just want to have it straight away" bubbled Libby
"It's a rock of magnificence " gushed Georgia
"It's just REALLY delicious", decided Elizabeth.

7 people had never eaten homemade hokey pokey.
Thanks to Elizabeth's assistant, AKA mum, for helping her record her demonstration and having plenty of delicious gold to share with the class.

Teach The Teacher: Chef Gabi

Yum, Yum, Yum!!
Well, Room S certainly wouldn't send this Chef home. Gabi was our Teach The Teacher this week and she shared a sweet from Brazil. Translated they are called "Little Kisses".
As the lead chef, Gabi was a great leader. She was organised with all the equipment she needed, had her recipe and had a script for her to follow. Taihuka and Zack were very proud to be chosen as her assistants and they certainly showed that they were worthy of the task. They asked questions, listened to instructions and we all learned a lot.
Everyone took a copy of the recipe and we even discussed ways to adapt the recipe.
Thanks Gabi and her team.
Delicious.

Teach the teacher RoomS Nolan

Friday last week I shared about South African money which is called a rand or a pound. The whole class tried counting to ten and saying good morning in Afrikaan. They learned that I speak it at home and I moved to New Zealand when I was little.

Room S Teach The Teacher "Georgia The Magnificent."

Be prepared to be WOWED!
Georgia showed our class a magic trick with playing cards. At first I was dubious as to how this would work. I could see no system or secret marks on the cards. Was this going to work?
Well fancy that, she was able to sort out the "secret" card. Now the hard part, teaching us. We all went away with a buddy and had a practise. Now, we are all are as amazing as Georgia The Magnificent.
Thanks Georgia.

Teach the teacher - Mason

Mason introduced the class to coding. No not secret coding, but computer programme coding. The programme he showed us, (Scratch ), is one he has been working on. He was able to make characters move, which certainly was a complex activity.
Mason is only allowed on computers for a limited amount of time each night, so he uses his time carefully to keep adding to the animation he is making.
He wasn't sure if it his something he is going to do as a career, but he certainly enjoys doing it for fun.

Teach the teacher - Riley

A mad scientist came to teach in Room S today, Riley.  He came complete with red wig, black lab coat and a PowerPoint to support his experiment.
We waited in anticipation. It certainly was worth it. As he mixed his concoction, we watched quietly, learning from his teaching. Did you know that water has a heavier density than water and that's why oil floats on top? Very interesting.
Finally it got to the last step of adding the alka seltzer tablet. Magic.... Chemical magic. Everyone was impressed.
To test if we were listening to his teaching, he even had a quiz! What are great teacher.
We compared what we know about lava lamps and this experiment. Safety was important too. Ms Ellis held it carefully over a lamp, which made the food colouring glow as intense as lava from deep inside the earths belly.
We'll done Riley.
We love teach the teacher.

Teach The Teacher

My Made-up Language
Last Friday, on Enviro day, I was the teacher. I taught Room H the made-up language I learnt. The words are:
Lawson Lawson  bo bawson
Banana fanna fo fawson
Fi fo fo fawson.
Lawson!

I really enjoyed everyone singing it in tune because it has this kind of rhythm I really like. I think Ms. Todd and Room H liked it too.                    Lawson

Teach the teach compressed air cannon

Josh was Teaching the teacher something that certainly surprised her.

I made this compressed air cannon with a bit of help from my dad. As you pump the pressure builds up  in the chamber. Then you turn the tap and release the pressure and it fires a nerf bullet or a bb bullet. I like to  pump it up to 30 to 50 psi. 30 psi is the same as one car tyre. If you dont know what psi means I will tell you. psi meanpounds   per square Inch  (measure of pressure). Parts of the cannon are: pump ,valve ,chamber ,tap and  barrel.

Teach The Teacher

Meerkat poster. On Monday I had to  teach the teacher  and the class about something . So I taught them about meerkats, my second favourite animal . They learnt  alot! (They're so cute). Here's a few quick facts.... For meerkats sticking together is a way of life, on their front paws meerkats have long curved claws that they use for digging ,meerkats use their slender tails to support balance, a large den may have as many as 15 entrances . I enjoyed sharing my information about meerkats. By Gracie.

Teach The Teacher

Alex was the teacher in Room H today. He shared his knowledge of Mandarin Chinese. Hear how to count to ten with Alex's excellent tuition!
