Tagging butterflies in Room S.

Come and see our display about our butterfly garden journey. Find out how it started, the many stages to get it what it is today and of course, what next. Like many Enviro ideas it takes a long time and many people getting involved to nurture something interesting and fun.

Challenge groups working together

Today's challenge had 3 members of the team blindfolded with the last person the eyes. Without talking and only using signals passed down the snake, the front person had to pick up an object randomly scattered on the floor.
There was some good teamwork and great driving. Others needed more work on taking charge, or trusting each other and driving around the obstacles.
Blind snakes was a great team activity.

Teach the teach compressed air cannon

Josh was Teaching the teacher something that certainly surprised her.

I made this compressed air cannon with a bit of help from my dad. As you pump the pressure builds up  in the chamber. Then you turn the tap and release the pressure and it fires a nerf bullet or a bb bullet. I like to  pump it up to 30 to 50 psi. 30 psi is the same as one car tyre. If you dont know what psi means I will tell you. psi meanpounds   per square Inch  (measure of pressure). Parts of the cannon are: pump ,valve ,chamber ,tap and  barrel.

Teach The Teacher

Meerkat poster. On Monday I had to  teach the teacher  and the class about something . So I taught them about meerkats, my second favourite animal . They learnt  alot! (They're so cute). Here's a few quick facts.... For meerkats sticking together is a way of life, on their front paws meerkats have long curved claws that they use for digging ,meerkats use their slender tails to support balance, a large den may have as many as 15 entrances . I enjoyed sharing my information about meerkats. By Gracie.

Winter Warmers has begun

Guess who is Super Excited that he is in our class and that we have our new Winter Warmers books?
I wonder what he is going to put in as the snap shot scene from our class novel  "Elephants In The Garden" by Michael Morpurgo.
Ms Ellis has explained to the class about quality work and having all the information needed. Mrs Hogan is going to be really impressed.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

Please DON'T LITTER!
When you litter it can go down storm water drains and lead out to the ocean. It could kill birds, turtles and sea animals. Plastic and rubbish can get stuck around their bodies, or they might eat it. They think it is food and then it gets stuck in their systems. Some birds have been found with gruesome items suffocating their organs.
Are you an ANIMAL KILLER?
SORT IT OUT. Put your rubbish in the bin. Or even better recycle or use less rubbish.

Who knew there were so many types of helmets on offer?

Did you know it is a legal requirement that you must wear a fitted helmet while riding a bike?
These are a sample of some of the helmets in Room S. We found that there are also lots of different ways that they can be adjusted. Some people even needed to replace their helmets after checking them. A big thank you to Miss Robertson who has helped all the Senior classes fit and adjust their helmets and bikes. Mr Belk, you are a legend in helping those who haven't had suitable bikes.
Our knowledge and skills are improving everyday.
100 housepoints if you leave a comment to share what you have learnt or improved at.

Testing week

Last week the seniors were very busy testing. We had to think and work carefully as we did lots of tests. We did our testing in the mornings because it is easier to concentrate.
