Young Achievers Awards Night


On Monday the 30th of October the Manawatu Council held their annual Young Achievers awards. Summer, Ella and Harawira were very lucky to be nominated to get an award from mayor Helen Worboys. We were all nominated  for different awards. Summer won the Kaitianga section. Harawira won the Cultural Champion award.  Ella was in Kaitiakitanga and 110% effort section. MSS was very proud of us all.

Camp Gear List

CAMP GEAR LIST
We suggest you borrow gear instead of buying new gear.
DO NOT PACK GOOD OR FASHION GARMENTS.

MAKE SURE ALL GEAR IS NAMED CLEARLY

DAY PACK
MAIN BAG
DO NOT BRING
  • lunch box with lunch for first day.
  • drink bottle (no fizz)
  • jacket (rain proof)
  • insect repellent and sun block
  • sun hat
Optional
  • Camera (preferably disposable)
  • Book or pack of cards

  • I pair of sneakers
  • 1 pr of walking shoes/extra pr sneakers
  • 1 pr of jandals or sandals (for around camp)
  • Underwear (enough for 4 days, minimum of 5)
  • 1 pr of pyjamas
  • 5 prs socks
  • 3 prs of shorts
  • 2 prs of long trousers (not jeans)
  • 4 t-shirts (no singlet tops)
  • 1 long sleeve top
  • 2 jerseys or sweatshirts or polar fleeces (1 should be thick in case of bad weather)
  • Woollen hat or beanie
  • Torch (with new batteries)
  • Large plastic bag for dirty washing.
  • Old clothes and towel for mudslide (may not return!)
  • Swimming togs (goggles optional)
  • Soap
  • 2 towels for bathing
  • 1 beach towel for swimming
  • Shampoo (in small container)
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Hairbrush
  • Sleeping bag
  • 1 Pillowcase
  • Deodorant (no aerosols)
  • Tissues
    • Cell phones
    • Jewellery
    • Money
    • Lollies
    • Computer games
    • Any electronic device.
    • Watches
    TO THE TEACHERS BEFORE LEAVING
    • Medication in named bag with clear instructions
    • Home baking for suppers (please no store-bought biscuits)

    GEAR WILL BE CHECKED BEFORE DEPARTURE.
