Congratulations Wk 5 Winners

Well done to Chloe, Abbey and Jack this week's wonderful workers.

MSS Rocks!

Addison and Sarah both gave Mrs Palmer some beautifully painted rocks which inspired our current artwork. We have been designing and painting rocks. Painting them requires careful patient paint work. Have a look below.

Busy Wednesday for the Senior Team!

Teachers had to be on their toes to know who was going where on Wednesday as Senior Students participated in a number of different activities.  Of course there were the usual Enviro groups but on top of that we had students going in different groups to the Civic Centre to practice for the Cultural Festival, a group that went to hear Gavin Bishop in the morning with Mrs Mackie, a second group of illustrators who heard Gavin Bishop talk about writing and illustrating in the afternoon and another group who went to the Feilding Library in the afternoon to listen to author, Tessa Duder.  In the evening a large group of students performed in the Civic Centre in front of a huge crowd of family and friends.  Well done Senior Team!

Here is Tessa talking about one of her latest books:

We Should...

It's that time of the year again...speeches!
Our topic for 2017 is 'We Should'. Senior classes are very busy preparing for this topic. All children across the team will perform a speech to their class. From here 2 children from each class will perform their speech to the Senior Team and judges and finally 2 finalists will be chosen to perform at the Lions Speech competition 2017.
Kid President has some advice. He is an excellent speaker

Mathex

On Friday the best and brightest mathematical minds from MSS headed off to Palmerston North to compete in the annual Mathex competition. There were Yr 5 and Yr 6 teams competing. It was a day of tough questions that are timed. All the teams performed well and enjoyed the challenge. Our best result was 3rd, well done MSS mathematicians!

Chess Champs Again!

We were in teams of 4 and we competed against lots of different schools. We competed in the Yr 5 and 6 grade. MSS had 3 teams competing. I won 6 of my 7 matches. 3 people in my team won 6 out of 7 matches. It was held in the Feilding Intermediate school hall. In our first round we faced St James who came second last year. I was on board one which means I had to face all the best players. At the end they presented the medals and the trophy. Kellan won a bronze medal. MSS won the 2017 trophy. Winners for the third year in a row! Thanks Mr Cribb.

Chook Heaven

It's finished and looking pretty amazing. Thank you to the parent and Grandparents who spent a lot of their time over the last 2 weeks on this project. It got the seal of approval from Mr Ward who noted it will be around long after we have gone! Next step when it is a little drier is feathered and friendly inhabitants.
