Tagging butterflies in Room S.

Come and see our display about our butterfly garden journey. Find out how it started, the many stages to get it what it is today and of course, what next. Like many Enviro ideas it takes a long time and many people getting involved to nurture something interesting and fun.

New Fad

Since we used the speed stacks for a challenge in Week 2's Whole School Assembly we have been enjoying creating towers with the cups.
Daily before school we are busy challenging our hand to eye co-ordination with amazing creations!
Check some out below!

Fonterra makes a big delivery!?

On Friday afternoon  a Fonterra truck and trailer made a special visit to our school to share information about our milk before it comes to us in cartons.
It was an interesting and informative visit and the Fonterra workers were wonderful. Thanks Fonterra! We love our Milk in Schools!

Teach the Teacher

Today Abby was the teacher in Room H.  She taught us how to make rice bubble slice.  Jack and Ella were her two helpers.  They were very careful when heating up the honey mixture on the stove.  Yum - it was delicious!

Arohanui Hospice - we care.

Today was Shorts Day for Arohanui Hospice. They are an amazing organisation that support families and people in need. A gold coin was donated for the privilege of showing our support. Well done everyone. This is Room S And our buddy class Room M.

Feilding High School spreads some smooth grooves.

Today the school was treated to the Feilding High School band. It was great to see some ex Manchester students performing. There were a wide range of instruments and styles of music. Something to aspire to for many of our students.

We love to read!

It's a good time to be a reader at the moment. We have Reading Bingo through the library, Winter Warmers through the town library and Pizza Wheels through Hell's Pizza! Wow, what wonderful incentives to read, no excuses Seniors!

Numeracy Superstars!

Learning a new game during Numeracy.

An egg...the real deal!

KFC, our biggest hen, had been displaying some laying behaviour so we made sure we had fresh hay in their nesting boxes. Sure enough over the weekend when they had some peace clever KFC laid our first MSS bantam egg. Check it out below.

Are the chickens finally earning their keep?

Guess what we found today in the chickens nesting bag...

Hmm, seems very big for a bantam? Also it was cold like it had been in the fridge...
We, in Rm I, think that mischievous Maui (AKA Ms Ellis) is foxing us.
But we loved it!

Jigging with Thornton

Thornton talked us through fishing for trout in NZ waterways. We found they must be 35+cm to be legal. Thornton and his Dad fish off a boat. With jigging you carefully drop the line in the water, you don't swing it back and cast it out. The most fish Thornton has caught is 7 in one trip.

Rm I were very interested and had many questions that Thornton answered well.
