Constable Cree comes to talk about Cyber Safety.

Today Constable Cree came to talk to the seniors about keeping ourself safe on the Internet.
Did you know that the legal age for having a Facebook page is 13?
If you put something on the internet it is there FOREVER!!!!
The internet is a great tool but it must be used correctly. Like all tools you must know the safety rules and precautions to use it.
You need to be aware that you have absolutely no idea who is actually behind the screen when communicating with others. Don't believe everything you are told by others on the internet. Don't give out any personal information!!!!
Even children have legal consequences when using the internet to harm others.

Some questions we were able to ask constable Cree:
Do virus protectors protector all our devices.
Who do you go to if you are cyber bullied?
How do you deal with cyber bullies?
If you are being blackmailed by someone what should you do?
What should you do if someone was using your internet gear?
How do you know what sites to trust to sign up to.
How do cyber bullies get your details.
What is the age limit for YouTube?
How do you disable hacking monitors?
Why do people want to spread viruses?
Is it possible to hack onto gaming consoles?
What are good virus protection programmes?
How do you know if you have been hacked?
How do they know your password?
What can be accessed  with your password?
Constable Cree was very busy writing these questions down and will come back with some answers to  these questions. Remember to discuss these things at home. You may be the person who has to share this information with your parents and family.
If you have any questions, please add a comment and we will need to put it on our wondering wall.

Treasure Hunting

</

>

Recently Terrific T went on a treasure hunt. We searched all around the school following directions, such as head 135 degrees for 68 metres. It took a while for the class to find the treasure which was eventually found by Connor.

Equal Air Pressure

Do you want to do a practical joke on your brother or sister? Well, all you need is a bottle with a pinky size hole in it. Believe it or not, the drink won't leak, until you ether squeeze the bottle or unscrew the lid. This is because the air pressure in the bottle is equal to the pressure outside the bottle. But when you remove the lid, the weight of the water has a greater pressure than the outside of the bottle resulting in it leaking.

TEACH THE TEACHER

On Friday I did teach the teacher in class. I taught Room H how to make bracelets. My mum showed me how to make them. They are really simple to make. You can make them all different colours but they have to be different colours on each side. Room H found it really fun and easy.

Samuel's project for Science Investigators

I’m in the Science Investigators group at MSS and we have to do eight homework activities.  For one of the activities I researched recycling plastic bottles and showed the process.  There are five stages for the bottles to be recycled. Here is the display poster I created.

Rm I Weekend Sport Stars!

In the weekend Reuben's soccer team won the F.U.A.F.C tournament. We played against 4 teams initially and won them all. Then onto the quarter finals, then semis and then the final! We played Marist in the final and won easily 4-0. I got a shot from halfway and it went in!
Ella also had some netball sporting success. She was chosen to be her team's Player of the Day! She played a strong game supporting her team who unfortunately had a loss. Ella plays in the wings for MSS 1!

Teach The Teacher

On a Friday in Room H we have Teach the Teacher and this time I taught the class some Spanish. It was lots of fun. I only taught us some easy words like: yes, no, please and thank you. The hardest would have to have been,  “Hi, my name is ---“. I also told everyone about South America. It was so cool being the teacher.

Stevie's Hanging Around...

Firstly congratulations Stevie, 1 full week! You made it, 100% attendance so far this term!
This is a picture of Stevie in her hoist. She has just got a brand new standing frame and the hoist is the gadget that gets her in and out of her wheelchair and frame.

Oliver's Cute little Friend

On Thursday Rm I missed fitness as they had a very cute visitor! Her name was Betsy and she was the world's cutest puppy! She is a Shihtzu Foxy cross. Oliver says she is very playful and she likes to chew shoes. Betsy is only 12 wks old and will get a bit bigger. Her fur is a cross of short terrier hair and long shihtzu hair.

MATARIKI

What a fabulous end to our Matariki Inquiry as we walked to the lookout on Highfield Hill to gaze at the Stars.  The earliest of us saw three of the Matariki constellation and a few other stars before the clouds came in.  The full moon was beautiful especially through the telescope and the binoculars.  Thanks to all the parents who got their children up bright and early on the last day of the term and a special HUGE thanks to the Mums and Dads who cooked us a hearty breakfast on our return. The karakia and waiata were shared with respect and I'm sure some of the neighbours enjoyed their new alarm clocks on Friday morning. Here are a few photos from the morning.

Come visit the new art gallery

This term Room M & S have been working together to create different collaborative art projects. We are lucky to share a cloak bay to display our work. Please come up and see how colour has brightened our space.

As part of this term's enviro day we created a Kaitiaki ika (Guardian fish). Everybody made a CD fish to show how each one of us are responsible for getting rid of their rubbish and not letting it go into our ocean systems. The Rainbow fish picture book was our motivation and showed us how sharing is caring.

Celebration with our Buddy Class

As the day turned colder and the rain crept in to stay, it was great to spend celebration with our buddy class. Battle ships, chess, Pictionary and the Logo game were a few of the many games we shared together.

Breakfast with the Stars

What an amazing start to the day. After our hike up Highfield Hill we all went to the hall to enjoy a shared breakfast. An early morning start and fresh air always makes breakfast taste so much better. A HUGE thank you to our parents that came and prepared breakfast while students and teachers were greeting the stunning sunrise and mysterious Matariki.
