Our second session of Forced perspectives
This week we got items to create forced perspective images. Toy dinosaurs, watering cans, shoes and even some of the new toys from the sandpit. We had to think carefully about what we could do with the items. Body language and facial expressions can make our break the realism of the image. We also had the challenge of being restricted in our spaces, as it was raining. Forced perspective needs to have a long distance to allow for the different layers to change the size of items. Lucky for cloak bays and verandas. It is pointless having a photo of something that looks ordinary, like holding a toy car.
Once we took the photos we had to crop the images to get the best effect. Remembering what we wanted as the main focus gave us a better idea about what to cut out. Chopping of hands never felt so good. We even found that big blocks of colour are not good things.

Digital Art - Forced perspective
Today Room S got the opportunity to use their green hat thinking and think outside the box with photography. Each student was given a piece of a photo, then they had to find the rest of their group by making the photo. Once the photo was made they then had to go and have ago at recreating their photo. How? That's where the green hat thinking came into it. Some groups were really successful, some groups weren't. But we all learned a lot about taking forced perspective photos. We can't wait until next time.

Warren Pohatu Styled Sea Creatures
Room I have been creating some beautiful pieces of sea themed art in the style of the amazing Warren Pohatu. We used pastel, black paper and chalk. Here are Dante and Summer's creations.
See how Warren Pohatu completes one of his master pieces. He makes it look easy but...

Come visit the new art gallery
This term Room M & S have been working together to create different collaborative art projects. We are lucky to share a cloak bay to display our work. Please come up and see how colour has brightened our space.
As part of this term's enviro day we created a Kaitiaki ika (Guardian fish). Everybody made a CD fish to show how each one of us are responsible for getting rid of their rubbish and not letting it go into our ocean systems. The Rainbow fish picture book was our motivation and showed us how sharing is caring.
